James Franco plays Jake Huard, a young man who dreams of one day attending the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland (hence the name). Huard enters into a boxing tournament in hopes of meeting the company's commanding officer in the final's, which he eventually does. Although he loses the fight by the judge's decision, he earns the respect of the entire academy for going the distance. Tyrese Gibson co-stars as the commanding officer, Midshipman Lieutenant (1st Class) Cole.
